Unit 3 Unit 10
Physical Well-being 7 Physical Well-being 9.5
Spiritual Well-being 8 Spiritual Well-being 9.5
Psychological Well-being 8 Psychological Well-being 9
My score has changed, because I have been working on my goals. I have made progress with my goals, and I have implemented the activities I chose for my well-being in all three areas. I have been working out more about 3-5 times per week. I do pray and mediate more and I’m also thinking more positive thoughts. I love this class. Overall my well-being is so much better. My family and friends have notice the the improvement and they love it. The reward has been the overall change in my well-being. The difficult part has been finding the time to do the exercises. This experience will improve my ability to assist others because I now have the tools to help someone else.

Unit 9 Final Project
Final Project
Introduction
It is important
for health and wellness professionals to develop psychologically, spiritually,
and physically. A health and wellness professional must be entwined with the
psychologically, spiritually, physically aspect of their own life. We teach
others how to develop psychologically, spiritually, and physically; in order to
teach the techniques we have to live them ourselves. It is hard to teach someone
how to mediate if I myself have never mediated before. As a healer, integral
health cannot just be what we have learned or read in a book; it has to be a
way of life. The only way to discover the profound possibilities of integral
health and healing, one must incorporate it into his or her own lives (Dacher,
2006).
In order for me to
achieve this goal, I need to continue to develop on all three aspects.
Psychologically I need to eliminate the mental chatter. As for the spiritual aspect I need to
spend more time in prayer. Physically I need to take care of my appearance.
Assessment
I have assessed my
health with each domain by trying to maintain a balance between my
psychological, spiritual, and physical well-being. I try to lessen needless
suffering and encourage human flourishing.
I believe there is
always room of improvement. On a scale of 1 to 10, I will score my
psychological aspect an 8. Although, I don’t have psychological illness such as
anxiety or depression, I need to work on having an Olympic mind set. I will
score my spiritual aspect a 7, because I need to spend more time with God in
prayer. I rate my physical aspect a 7 because I need to work on my body
composition.
Goal Development
One goal I have
for my self in the psychological aspect is to try to think positive thoughts,
and when negative thoughts arise dispose of them immediately. My goal for my
spiritual aspect is to become one with Christ. My goal for my physical aspect
is workout three times a week, and watch what I eat.
Practices for Personal Health
Some strategies I
will use to implement the growth in my psychological domain is to mediate more.
I really enjoyed the Mental Visualization exercise and I will continue to
practice this exercise throughout the week. I have an obsessive amount of mental chatter, and an
unfocused mind I will use the three steps of the Subtle Mind Exercise,
witnessing mind, calm abiding mind, and unity consciousness. I will implement
the Mental Visualization and Subtle Mind Exercise by devoting a specific time
out of each day and performing these exercises.
As for the
spiritual aspect I plan to implement my growth by spending more reading the
bible and joining prayer groups. I believe the Bible is the gateway to Christ,
and reading and studying the Bible will bring me closer the to Christ and
elevate my spirituality. Joining a prayer group has always been helpful for me.
Prayer groups keep me focus and discipline. I know if people are depending on
me, I will be more likely to attend.
The strategies I
will implement to foster growth in physical aspect are through diet and
exercise. I think I am a pretty healthy person. I do not have any illness such
as hypertension or diabetes. I am rarely sick or feeling under the weather. I
have been a vegetarian for two years now and I am working my way to become a
vegan. I do eat a more than my share of sweets. I will combat this by
eliminating sweets and food that high in carbohydrates from my diet. I do
workout most of the time, but I will get back on a strict schedule working out
3-5 times per day.
Commitment
I will assess my
progress psychologically, for the next six months, by keep a journal. I will
track my mediation progress. I will continue to eliminate the mental chatter by
mediating on positive things. I will continue clear my mind and let go of past
hurt feelings. I will continue this long-term by setting aside a special time
everyday to exercise these mediation exercises.
Spiritually, I
will assess my progress for the next six months by writing down the books and
chapters of the Bible I ready daily. I will also write down key points that I
can incorporate into my life to make my life better. As for long term I will
continue to work with prayer group.
For the next six
months I will assess my progress by going on a sugar detox and reading the food
labels on the food I eat. I will maintain my progress on long term by doing
search and substituting the bad sugars for healthier alternatives. As for
exercise in the next six months I will join the local YMCA and participate in exercise
classes such as Zubma Classes and Yoga Classes. As for long-term, I will train
for a marathon and enter in local road races.

Unit 8 Optimal Well-Being:
In my opinion the Subtle mind and Visualization exercise are the most beneficial. The subtle mind exercise can foster my mental fitness, by allowing me focus on my breathing. I have notice that on the days I do this practice that I’m much more calmer and relaxed through out the day. I don’t let the small things frustrate me.
In the Visualization exercise I have been able to see things in a new light. There any many situations I used to have a negative out look on, I now have a positive out look. When I feel myself thinking negative I now think of my great happiness, that sense of wholeness, and I continue to have that radiant of health and well-being.

Unit 7 Current Trends & Research
After completing the Meeting Aesclepius meditative practices this week I felt very peaceful. With this week being the holidays, it was a little challenging to relax. Once I got into the meditative practice my mind and spirit were both calmer. My psychological and spiritual wellness have both been fostered by both the mindfulness and meditation exercises. I’m a lot happier. Small things that I use to worry about I no long do. My mind and heart are more open to accepting people the way they are. I will continue to apply these practices in my life to foster greater health and wellness.
The saying “One cannot lead another where one has not gone himself” I think is an accurate statement. As a health and wellness professional it is important to live the lifestyle that you teach. I think it would be hard for a client to respect a professional if the professional is tell the client to kind and respectful, but they are not themselves. Yes, I believe as a health and wellness professional you do have the obligations to your clients to be developing your health psychologically, physically, and spiritually. If you are going to tell someone to life a healthy lifestyle you should want to live a healthy lifestyle as well. Your clients look up you and they respect you, so if they are coming to you for help it is important to demonstrate that kind of healthy lifestyle in your life.

Unit 6 Mind-Body-Spirit Wellness and Healing
Hello Everyone:
In practicing the universal Loving Kindness exercise and completing the Integral Assessment, I was very surprise at the out come. The universal Loving Kindness exercise allows me to expand my sensitivity, generosity, and emotional intimacy beyond our close group of friends and love ones. It allows me to share these thoughts and feeling with all human kind. I discovered that I need to exercise loving kindness more often, even to strangers. The area I choose to be a focus of growth and development is psychospiritual. I believe if I focus on the psychospiritual aspect of my life all the other aspects will come together. Some exercises and activities I can implement to foster greater wellness in this area is meditating more, praying more, and participating in prayer groups with others.

Unit 5 Wellness and Healing
Hello Everyone:
The comparison between the Loving and Kindness and Subtle mind exercises is that they both allow me to focus on my inner self. The contrast is the Love-kindness teaches you to think about others and the Subtle mind exercises allow to to concentrate on breathing. I benefited from the Subtle mind exercise more because all I had to do was breath. I really enjoyed the the waves sounds. It made me relax because I could breath to the waves.
Spiritual, mental, and physical wellness are all connected. For me when one of these areas are off balance the other is also effected. The connection of spiritual, mental, and physical wellness manifest in my life when I pray daily, workout daily, and meditate daily.

Mind-Body-Spirit Paradigm
Hello Everyone:
I really enjoyed the exercise. It was beneficial because it allowed me to find my inner peace and I was able to open up to helping others. It was very difficult at first to concentrate and focus on the exercise. Yes, I would recommend this to others, because this exercise allow you to feel compassion for those around you and you to find inner peace.
The concept of “mental workout” is to find inner peace, happiness, and wholeness and to develop the process of human flourishing. Research indicates some benefits of mental workout is finding inner peace, having a connection between mind, body, and spirit, to develop a calm-abiding consciousness and a unity consciousness. It also help to become more compassionate to others. One way I can implement mental workouts to foster my psychological health is by being a peace with myself and the ones around me.

I don’t suffer any psychological illness such as depression, but I have to control my negative thinking.

Unit 2 Welcome and Journey on Relaxation Statement
Welcome Statement
My name is Roxanne Elzy and I love being apart of the Health and Wellness profession. My passion is to help myself and others experience the gift of a balanced mind, body, and spirit, through diet and exercise. I have been a Massage Therapist for 9 nine years. Now I'm expanding my career by pursuing an education in the Health and Wellness field. I'm in my second years of the Health and Wellness program at Kaplan University. So far I have loved every minute of the program.
Journey on Relaxation Statement:
The Journey on Relaxation exercise was amazing. I cannot believe that I can control and direct my blood flow. When I directed my blood flow to my arms and hands I could feel them getting warmer and they felt heavier. I could not lifted them off the floor. I feel so much better and a lot calmer. Before I started the relaxation exercise I had a headache, but after the exercise my headache was completely gone. I think I may have found a way to relieve headaches (lol).
